  • Can I request you to take some time out of your day to pray for one of our squadmates. After calling how many minutes were left until breakfast in the dorm hallways, one of our four degrees collapsed. The cadet next to him caught him and lowered him to the ground, but he was out and curled up for a few seconds. I have no idea what happened and he's probably at the clinic or hospital right now, but if you could pray for him, it will be interesting to see what God does.

    On another note, today started rough and we have a standup knowledge test with our immediate chain of command tonight: they will ask us three questions out of the knowledge we have been learning since Week 1 (back in August). There's about eight pages of information to know, divided into eighty questions, so they could ask us any of those, or variations of them. It's a stand-by-yourself-and-answer-by-memory presentation. Not fun. Keep me in your prayers. But like in Facing the Giants (yes Mom, I saw it this last weekend): I will praise the Lord in victory or defeat. In the good times and the hard. Time for homework.

  • Well, I guess today was pretty good: I found out I maxed my Arabic midterm exam. Yup 450/450 A+. And it's impossible for me to go on academic probation, ie have a cumalitive GPA lower than 2.0 and/or fail a course. Nope, not possible, even if I get a big fat 0 on my calc GR. I'd still have 67%, but I'm gonna pass. Christian Doolie Retreat this weekend; leave at 1830 tomorrow. Man I can't wait for the break. It's gonna be great. Still, please keep me in your prayers around 3:30 my time on Tuesday 2 Oct. That's when I'm taking my calc Graded Review (Gr). Time for bed! YEAH!Almost an hour before taps! I love prog (midterm) cuz you don't get any more assignments cuz the instructors are trying to tally scores and compute the curve, so we get some early nights. Have a great Air Force evening all!

  • How come a pleasent, restful weekend, aced Arabic GR, and a great talk with my brother be so quickly squelched into an awful day so quickly? I'll tell you how: because you and everyone else are really tired for no apparent reason after all the sleep on the weekend, you and your classmates can't correctly recite a quote they should know better than their birthdate, and because the upperclassmen are deciding you definitely need to know checkpoints.

    I know I often talk about how bad things are, but they do go well, actually, almost more often than not. Oh, I'm so ready to quite! Why do I let myself undergo all this crap? Why did God direct me here? Well, I hope the Christian Doolie Retreat this weekend is as good as they say. I for one am going to need it. I need a nap too. That usually helps. Thankfully I don't have much school, but I'm not understanding the section of calc we're on. God give me peace tonight, and a good night's rest. I need it. I think I'll take a nap right now. Gees.

  • Tuesday, 11 September 2007-- Six years after the fact.

    Wing Reveille Formation on the Terrazzo at the Memorial Gardens.

    4,000 cadets observe a moment of silence for those who died.

    We are at war. Just last week, the nineteen year-old son of a faculty member, died;

    Hardly a year out of highschool.

    Freedom is not free.

    Men and women are dying.

    Will you risk your life in

    defense of someone

    you don't even

    know?

    “It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us the freedom of the press.  It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us the freedom of speech.  It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who gives us the freedom to demonstrate.  It is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves beneath the flag, and whose coffin is draped by the flag, who allows the protestor to burn the flag.”

    -Father Dennis Edward O’Brien, Sergeant, USMC

    Are you willing to risk your life for someone with different beliefs? For someone you despise?

    God bless America and her loyal guardians
